Business As Usual – Only Better
As the founder and managing director of Internode Pty and Agile Pty Ltd, I am writing with some important news about our company group.
Under a just-concluded agreement, ASX-listed iiNet will purchase all of the shares in Internode Pty Ltd and its sister company Agile Pty Ltd, effectively making the Internode Group a subsidiary of iiNet. The transaction will be completed by the end of February 2012.
This is obviously a huge development in the life and times of Internode and Agile!
After a decade that has seen the Australian broadband market grow from birth in 2000 to maturity in 2010, we are at the top of our game, and at the top of a mountain, right now.
So this is exactly the right time to find a new mountain to climb, as part of a new alliance.
Once Internode has joined forces with iiNet, the combined group will become a substantially larger broadband company, with more than 900,000 customers Australia-wide. This makes us clear and compelling leader nationally for both corporate and residential broadband customers.
Internode and Agile will benefit from the credibility, stability and financial muscle that comes from being part of a major ASX-listed company, when working with larger corporate and government opportunities. We will also benefit from greater access to capital to more effectively translate our great ideas into new realities. We will bring our great technology and innovation to the iiNet group, and we will have access to technology and innovation from other parts of the group in the development and deployment of new services for Internode customers.
Internode has been a leader in Internet Technology for more than twenty years. As we move into this exciting new phase, all existing jobs will be retained and we’re staying right where we are.
For us its ‘Business As Usual’ – only better (with deeper pockets, much greater scale, and greater resources to call upon when they are required).
I will continue in my executive roles as MD and CTO at Internode, driving technical strategy and execution, alongside CEO Patrick Tapper and the rest of our great management team.
In closing, I want you to know that what is great about Internode – its passion, commitment to innovation, quality and customer service – are hugely important to us, as they are to you.
Whether you are using our broadband services via ADSL2+ or the National Broadband Network, watching a movie on fetchtv, or just making a phone call – or doing any of the many other things that our services make possible, we look forward to continuing to be your stress-free path into the future.
