As you may be aware, the acquisition of Internode by iiNet Limited was announced in December 2011. The transfer of ownership was finalised today, and both Internode and iiNet staff are hard at work integrating our various systems, software, and infrastructure.

As previously mentioned by Simon Hackett, one of the first and most obvious benefits will be the merging of the iiNet and Internode ADSL2+ DSLAM networks.

That’s why today, you’ll find that our ADSL2+ Exchange DSLAM list has grown from 208 exchanges to a whopping 450 exchanges! In total, adding an extra 242 iiNet ADSL2+ enabled exchanges to our list.

The additional exchanges are all listed as ‘Planned’, while we interconnect the iiNet and Internode DSLAM networks. Once we’ve got all of the important bits talking to each other, we’ll be able to transfer Internode customers (on Easy Reach plans connected to Telstra Wholesale DSLAM ports) over to the iiNet DSLAM network, and vice versa. We’ll also be able to accept new Easy Broadband and Easy Naked orders on those exchanges, just as we do via our existing ADSL2+ DSLAM network today.

What this means for Internode customers:

If you’re currently on an Internode Easy Reach plan, and in an area covered by iiNet’s DSLAM network, once we have interconnected our DSLAM networks we’ll be able to migrate your service (provided that your ADSL service isn’t connected via a RIM) to the iiNet DSLAM infrastructure in your local exchange. Once your service has been migrated, you’ll be able to change to our awesome value Easy Broadband ADSL2+ plans using the Online Plan Changer in My Internode.

We don’t have any ETA just yet on exactly when this will all happen, however it’s something we’re working on making happen as soon as possible.

If your service is eligible for migration, we’ll let you know shortly before the migration happens. We’ll also advise you once the migration has been completed, at which point you’ll be able to visit the plan changer to upgrade your plan.
