Without further ado, our list of fang-tastic Halloween films!
Stephen King SpecialtiesHe’s a world-renowned American author of horror, supernatural fiction, suspense, and fantasy novels. Over the years, a number of Stephen King’s titles have jumped from the page to the screen and have been adapted into movies, miniseries and TV series. For the Stephen King fans, there are many more available but here are three to get you started this month. 1. IT Release Year: 2017/1990 Genre: Thriller Plot: Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, known to terrify readers. In the summer of 1989, a group of bullied kids band together to destroy a shape-shifting monster who goes by the name of Pennywise. Mercedes Year of Release: 2018 Genre: Thriller/ Mystery Plot: Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, Mr. Mercedes tells the story of a psychopathic killer who drives a stolen Mercedes into a crowd. A recently retired detective takes it upon himself to try to bring him down. Faced with a series of lurid letters and emails, the ex-cop is forced to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he can strike again. Castle Rock Year of Release: 2018 Genre: Drama/ Horror Plot: A psychological horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, in the town of Castle Rock. This series is an original story that features explores themes and worlds that unite King’s canon, including the infamous Shawshank Prison. The series follows Henry Deaver who receives an anonymous phone call that lures him back to Castle Rock. He is unsettled by his hometown, but he returns to help a sinister, mostly mute man being kept in a cage underneath Shawshank. Where to find it: Buy now in the TV Store on Fetch. Rating: MA15+ 4. Pet Sematary Release Date: 1989 / 2019 Genre: Thriller Plot: Dr. Louis Creed and his wife relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his neighbour Jud Crandall, setting off a terrifying chain reaction that unleashes an unspeakable evil with horrific consequences. Crawl Year of Release: 2019 Genre: Horror Plot: When a category five hurricane hits her town, Haley ignores the evacuation orders in order to search for her missing father. After finding him gravely injured in their home, they become trapped in their rapidly flooding house. As they fight their way out, they discover they aren’t alone. Us Year of Release: 2019 Genre: Mystery/ Thriller Plot: Jordan Peele, acclaimed filmmaker behind “Get Out,” returns to write, direct and produce “Us”. Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child with her husband, son and daughter. Their holiday takes a nightmarish turn when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for their lives. Child’s Play Year of Release: 2019/1988 Genre: Thriller Plot: After moving to a new city, young Andy Barclay receives a special present from his mother – a Buddi doll. Unaware of its more sinister nature, Andy and the doll become best friends but when the doll suddenly takes on a life of its own, Andy needs the help of the other neighborhood children to stop the threatening toy from wreaking havoc. What We Do In the Shadows Year of Release: 2014 Genre: Comedy Horror Plot: Housemates, Viago, Deacon, and Vladislav are three vampires who are just trying to get by in modern life; from paying rent to cleaning the house and trying to make friends and to get invited into nightclubs. From the outside they’re just like anyone else – except they’re immortal and enjoy human blood. Shaun of the Dead Year of Release: 2004 Genre: Fantasy/ Adventure Plot: A man with an uneventful life and somewhat meaningless existence, Shaun’s days are filled by working at the electronics store, living with his best friend, and hanging out at the pub. Poltergeist Year of Release: 1982 Genre: Thriller Plot: They’re here! Late one night, 10-year-old Carol Anne Freeling hears a voice coming from inside the television set. At first, the ghosts appear friendly and playful, until they turn and start to terrorise the family. And when Carol Anne is pulled from this world into another, her parents turn to an exorcist for help in this Steven Spielberg horror classic. Rosemary’s Baby Year of Release: 1968 Genre: Drama/ Mystery Plot: Rosemary and her struggling actor husband move into a new apartment in a New York City apartment building with a sinister reputation and only elderly residents. As they become surrounded by peculiar neighbours, noises and occurrences, Rosemary begins to believe that her baby is not of this world and the paranoia over the safety of her unborn child begins controlling her life.
