Halloween hasn’t really taken off in Australia as much as it has in the northern hemisphere, but that won’t stop costumer-lovers and scare-enthusiasts alike from celebrating! Whether that means dressing up, baking some tasty treats or hosting a movie marathon that’s bound to be a scream; the spooky season is here!
For the geekier among us, October is a great time to check out the latest frightening additions to the Horror genre on game libraries such as Steam. With just a few bright minds working as a team, some of the most interesting (and downright demented!) titles come from indie developers as opposed to the industry giants.
We’ve rustled up a scare-lection of horror games that are bound to get your heart thumping!

How can you combine creativity, costume-making, and all kinds of crafting with a hearty dose of geeky fun? Cosplay, of course! If you’re out of the loop, cosplay, or ‘costume play’ refers to the act of wearing a costume that looks like a character from a fictional work. The practice of wearing these costumes to science fiction conventions grew popular all the way back in the 1940s.
It’s not strictly limited to science fiction, though – today, characters from virtually all forms of media are cosplayed, including comic books, cartoons, manga, anime, video games, novels, TV series, movies. It’s open to all ages – even babies can get in on the action with a little help from their parents. If there’s a will, there’s a way (although having a hot glue gun helps a lot).

Who doesn’t love a good expo? If you’ve never heard of it before, E3 is short for “Electronic Entertainment Expo”. Over the past 23 years, E3 has become one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the world, with industry titans such as Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo using it as a platform to announce their upcoming games, consoles and peripherals.
If you’ve ever seen a massive queue outside an Apple Store when a new iPhone is released, trust us… that’s nothing compared to the fan base for E3! Last month’s E3 2017 in Los Angeles saw over 68,000 attendees clamouring to get the latest scoop from press conferences and exhibition booths. Of that number, just 15,000 were very lucky members of the public, with the rest being journalists and industry professionals.
While no one from the office was privileged enough to attend (it’s a long way from Adelaide to LA!) we were on the edge of our seats waiting for the announcements to hit the internet via social media and live streams. Let’s take a look at some of the stuff that the office was most excited about.
